In August, Donald Sutherland will teach and perform a solo recital at the Pipe Organ Encounter, held at Shenandoah University. Alumnus Marvin Mills (GPD ’02) will also teach and perform at the same week-long event.
The Summer Organ Recital Series at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C., will feature current DMA student Richard Fitzgerald on August 15. Jin-Sun Cho (MM ’95, GPD ’96), Louis Perazza (GPD ’07), and current MM student Nicholas Will performed on the series earlier this summer.
The Peabody Percussion Group, directed by Robert Van Sice, were winners of the Percussive Arts Society’s International Percussion Ensemble Competition. Solen Mainguene (BM ’10) has been admitted to the Mozarteum Universitat in Salzburg for a master’s degree in opera. She was also offered a young artist residency in the Mozart Opern Institute, and will perform the role of Elettra in Idomeneo in April next year.
