Seattle International Piano Competition win

Min-Kuei Yang, a Doctor of Musical Arts candidate studying with Alexander Shtarkman, was awarded the Bronze Medal in the Seattle International Piano Competition, which took place Sept. 17-19. She also received a jurors’ award for the Best Performance of Chopin.

Emily Green conference presentations

Adjunct faculty member Emily Green presented a paper at the 16th Biennial 19th-Century Music Conference in Southampton, U.K., and will give one at the annual meeting of the American Musicological Society, November 4-7 in Indianapolis, Ind.

Annie Gill (GPD ’08)

Soprano Annie Gill (GPD ’08) won first place in the Kentucky Opera Idol Competition on Sept. 17 in Morehead, Ky. Gill won all three components: judges’ decision, audience choice, and online. She will perform the role of Kate Pinkerton in Baltimore Opera Theatre’s production of Madama Butterfly on Saturday, Oct. 23, at the Hippodrome Theatre.
