Yury Shadrin, student of Leon Fleisher, was awarded a first prize in the 2011 Yale Gordon Competition for piano. Shadrin received a prize of $1000, and will play Brahms’ Piano Concerto No. 2 in B-flat major, Op. 83 with the Peabody Symphony Orchestra next season, and give a recital on the Homewood campus.
Sejoon Park, student of Boris Slutsky, was awarded a second prize of $500, and Michael Delfin, student of Boris Slutsky, was awarded a third prize of $100.
Judges for the competition were Gabriel Kwok (Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts), Enrico Elisi (Penn State), and Mayron Tsong (University of Maryland).
