New alumna opera
Amy Scurria (MM ’98, Composition) is working on an opera entitled Pearl with conductor Sara Jobin and librettist and feminist author Carol Gilligan and her son Jonathan Gilligan. The opera is a sequel to Hawthorne’s Scarlet Letter. It will be workshopped next summer at Shakespeare & Company in Lenox, Mass.
Giargiari Bel Canto Vocal Competition

Graduate Performance Diploma candidate Kristina Lewis (MM ’11, Voice) has won an Opera Index 2011 Encouragement Grant. The competition was held at Merkin Concert Hall in New York.
