Judith Zaimont’s Solar Traveller, a work commissioned in part by the Peabody Wind Ensemble and premiered at Peabody in the fall of 2009, won one of three major awards from The American Prize in Orchestral Composition 2012. This was the only work for symphonic wind ensemble so honored – the other two works are for traditional orchestra.
