Kunihiko Komori (MM ’97, GPD ’00, Percussion) performed two concerts at the Hyogo Performing Arts Center in Nishinomiya City, Japan on June 1 and 2. Georgi Videnov (BM ’12, Percussion), who recently joined the Hyogo Performing Arts Center Orchestra, and Sao Aoki (MM ‘11, GPD ’13, Percussion) also performed on the program. Among works by Reich, Hosokawa, Zivkovic, and Cage, the program featured two pieces by Vinao: the Japanese premiere of Arabesco Infinito, and Estudios de Frontera, a composition that was commissioned by the Peabody Conservatory and premiered by Peabody’s percussion faculty artist Robert van Sice.
