Amy Beth Kirsten (DMA ’10, Composition) received The ASCAP Foundation’s 2013 Leonard Bernstein award at its 18th Annual Awards Ceremony, held at Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Allen Room in New York on December 11. She was presented the award by Jaime Bernstein, Leonard Bernstein’s daughter. The award was created on the occasion of Bernstein’s 70th birthday and provides support to aspiring composers for career-related expenses such as travel to important performances or copying music. Both the Bernstein family and The ASCAP Foundation provide funding for the award.
