Several Peabody productions and performances by students and faculty were highlighted by Tim Smith in his “Best on Baltimore stages in 2013” for The Baltimore Sun. Smith singles out Peabody’s performance of Defiant Requiem conducted by Murry Sidlin (BM ’62, Music Education; MM ’68, Instrumental Conducting) in April and the Peabody Children’s Chorus’ performance in the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra’s Britten War Requiem in November. Also included on the list were performances by faculty artists Leon Fleisher and Katherine Jacobson Fleisher (BM ’81, Piano); oboist Katherine Needleman with the Baltimore Chamber Orchestra conducted by Markand Thakar; and Edward Polochick’s conducting of the Concert Artists of Baltimore.
