María Hernández-Candelas ( MM ’97, Flute) released a new CD, Flauta Boricua/Puerto Rican Flute. The album was awarded one of the best 20 CD productions of 2014 by the Fundación Nacional para la Cultura Popular in Puerto Rico. It was featured in Puerto Rico´s main newspaper: El Nuevo Día. The CD features contemporary classical Puerto Rican composers and traditional Puerto Rican Danzas. Hernández-Candelas is currently the piccolo soloist of the Puerto Rico Symphony on leave as she pursues a doctoral degree from the University of Kansas.
