Amit Peled performed at the Kennedy Center in one of its annual festivals celebrating the art of a particular region or linguistic group. The “Iberian Suite” festival, at which Peled performed, was devoted to the art and influence of Spanish- and Portuguese-speaking countries. Peled performed on Pablo Casals’ cello (which he fondly refers to as “Pablo”) to an audience including Casals’ widow, Marta Casals Istomin, and recently abdicated King Juan Carlos I of Spain. The performance was reviewed in the Washington Post.
