The 2015 Peabody Taiwan Friends Concert Series, coordinated by Joanna Hsin-Ju Ting (DMA ’02, Piano), will feature performances and works by nearly 50 Peabody alumni at eight universities throughout Taiwan from October 27 to December 3. “The life we had together in Peabody was a wonderful memory, and the conservatory’s international stage was pretty competitive, yet the learning and care we received from our teachers and the school always encouraged us to be better professional musicians. … this delicate educational thinking also helped us become better teachers later in our lives,” wrote Ms. Ting. Featured alumni include including conductor of National Central University Symphony Orchestra Chien-An Chen, cello, principal trombone of the National Taiwan Symphony Orchestra Kuang-Ching Sung, trombone, concertmaster of the National Taiwan Symphony Orchestra Ray-Chou Chang, violin, associate professor of the Tainan National University of the Arts Wei-lung Li, piano, and associate professor at Tamkang University and former outreach oboist of The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts Yung-Ying Chris Gan, oboe.
