Judah Adashi Interviewed on The Johns Hopkins HUB on Upcoming ‘Rise’ Concert

judah_adashiFaculty composer Judah Adashi (MM ’02, DMA ’11, Composition) was interviewed in The Johns Hopkins Hub on his upcoming performance of Rise, with poetry by Tameka Cage Conley, in an article by Bret McCabe titled “Judah Adashi revisits ‘Rise,’ his choral reflection on America’s civil rights struggles,” published on Thursday, April 14. The concert is on Tuesday, April 19 at Mt. Vernon Place United Methodist Church. The performance features Afro Blue, the Howard University Choir, the Occasional Symphony, and the Peabody Community Chorus. The event begins at 6:30 pm with a conversation on art and activism in Baltimore, featuring Aaron Maybin, Sonja Sohn, Tariq Touré, and D. Watkins. At 7:30 pm, cellist Lavena Johanson (MM ’13, Cello) will premiere The Beauty of the Protest, inspired by the photos of Devin Allen. Dr. Adashi will discuss Rise, art, and activism at Red Emma’s on Sunday, April 17 at 7:30 pm with Tameka Cage Conley and at the Impact Hub Baltimore on Wednesday, April 27 at 6:00 pm, which features Ms. Johanson performing The Beauty of the Protest and an exhibition of work by Devin Allen.
