Sandbox Percussion – Jonathan Allen, Victor Caccese (BM ’11, Percussion), Terry Sweeney (BM ’13, Percussion), and Ian Rosenbaum (BM ’08, Percussion) – performed on October 28 in the Doctor of Musical Arts recital of Thomas Kotcheff (BM ’10, Piano). The program included the world premiere of Mr. Kotcheff’s newest percussion quartet not only that one but that one & that too, as well as all his other percussion works written as a doctoral candidate at the University of Southern California. While on the West Coast, they performed and gave master classes at a total of nine schools to work with students on developing chamber music skills. The group then performed in Sacramento for the Festival of New American Music at the opening gala on November 5 and a full concert on November 6. The concert featured all American composers including Andy Akiho, Mr. Allen, Mr. Caccese, David Crowell, Mr. Kotcheff, Steve Reich, and Jason Treuting.
