The Listening Lab, a former dean’s incentive grant project curated by conducting DMA candidate Rebecca Smithorn, has been adopted by the Baltimore Chamber Orchestra and the Johns Hopkins Social Innovation Lab. The Listening Lab is a music education program that teaches students concentration, awareness, and listening skills through a series of classroom sessions and live orchestra concerts. The project seeks to teach students cognitive skills they can use in many aspects of their life, as well as increase their interest in the arts. A fundraiser for the project will be held on Wednesday, May 31 at 5:30 pm at Impact Hub Baltimore and includes a discussion of the Lab Listening Lab by Ms. Smithorn accompanied by the BCO String Quartet.
