Peabody Preparatory Voice Performance Academy and the Junior Royal Northern College of Music exchanged masterclass sessions over Zoom in March, exploring English songs and African American art song literature. RNCM faculty soprano Linda Richardson worked with Prep Voice students on British repertoire, and Peabody’s Dr. Carl Dupont worked with JRNCM students in African American Art Song selections following an inspiring lecture.
Madeleine Gray, Preparatory Voice Department Chair said, “In addition to being able to give our collective students these cross-cultural experiences, it was so meaningful to connect with my alma mater and British colleagues in this project. Zoom may have its issues (!) but it also opens doors in ways we couldn’t have imagined before 2020!”
Voice Performance Academy students will present a recital of repertoire studied this year in a performance of “Composers Lost and Found” on May 14 in Goodwin Hall.
