Marina Piccinini Master Classes Announces New Piccolo Division

The Peabody Institute is pleased to announce our seventh annual Marina Piccinini International Flute Master Classes to be held from Wednesday, June 25, 2014 through Monday, June 30, 2014 at the Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore, Maryland. The week kicks off with an Opening Gala Recital and reception featuring Marina Piccinini and continues on for an intensive week of instruction in a variety of formats and disciplines, including daily master classes with Peabody faculty member Marina Piccinini, Control Your Breath (CYB) and Relaxation classes with Oluwafemi Oladeji, lectures and Q&A sessions with faculty and special guests, concerts, instrument exhibits by some of the world’s leading flutemakers, and culminating in a closing recital and farewell reception featuring selected participants.

In addition, we are proud to announce a new Piccolo Division, “Mastering a Winning Piccolo Audition,” led by Peabody faculty member Laurie Sokoloff, principal piccolo of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra since 1969. These daily piccolo master classes are aimed at finding a winning approach to playing piccolo excerpts, whether already as seasoned piccoloists or as flutists wishing to sound like a piccoloist at auditions.
As in the past, we also offer a special program for high school students at the cusp of continuing training in college. This successful program is led by Kristin Bacchiocchi-Stewart and Brook Ferguson and includes private sessions with the faculty and one master class session with Marina Piccinini.

Daily and weekly auditors are welcome, with week auditors also having the additional opportunity to participate in a one time auditor master class.

Performing and auditing participants may apply using the online form at peabody.jhu.edu/piccininimc. The complete schedule and a detailed listing of the program features, faculty biographies and fees can also be found at this address.

The deadline to apply is May 1, 2014. If you have any questions, please email us at MPISMC@gmail.com or call Allison Dreskin, conference services manager, at 410-234-4770.
