Wimbish and Lee were finalists in Liszt-Garrison Competition

Soprano Melissa Wimbish (GPD ’11, Voice) and vocal accompanying student Ju Young Lee were Finalists in the Collaborative Artist Division of the 2013 Liszt-Garrison International Piano Competition. Free screening of Michael Hersch film

Richard Anderson’s film about Michael Hersch (BM ’95, MM ’97, Composition), The Sudden Pianist, will be given a free screening today at 6 pm in the George Peabody Library.  A Q&A session with Hersch and Anderson will follow, along with a reception.

Sarah Kim won National Philharmonic Competition

Violinist Sarah Kim, student of Christian Tremblay, won the 2013 National Philharmonic Competition and will be performing as a soloist with the National Philharmonic Orchestra at Strathmore Hall in Bethesda on November 20. She will perform the last movement of Wieniawski’s Concerto No. 2.
