Musicologist Anna Celenza will deliver a talk entitled Jazz Italian Style in the Peabody Institute Musicology Colloquium series this coming Tuesday, 11 October at 5PM. The talk, which is based on Celenza’s forthcoming book with Cambridge University Press, explores how, by the mid 1930s, a genre of jazz distinguishable from American varieties flourished in Northern Italy and began to influence Italian-American musicians like Frank Sinatra.
Anna Celenza is the Thomas E. Caestecker Professor of Music at Georgetown University.
Please join us on Tuesday, 11 October at 5PM in the Conservatory Building, Room 308. Talks are free and open to the public, and will be followed by a light reception.
