Jake Runestad (MM ’11, Composition; MM ’12, Music Theory Pedagogy) had a number of world premieres this summer. The orchestral version of his piece, Proud Music of the Storm, was premiered by the Dallas Symphony in June. His piece The Secret of the Sea, commissioned by Craig Hella Johnson and KI Concerts, was premiered at the Sydney Opera House on July 17, 2018. Runestad was a guest composer and lecturer at the Yale International Choral Festival. There, the Yale Alumni Chorus performed his piece The Hope of Loving. Finally, his work Dreams of the Fallen was given an excellent review in the Chicago Tribune.
