Joy Guidry (BM ’18, Bassoon) and Jonathan Rush, conducting, will join the Nairobi Philharmonic Orchestra in their full length performance of the Nutcracker. They will be joined by the Dance Centre of Kenya and a children’s choir from Ghetto Classics, a community program based in Korogocho, one of Kenya’s biggest slums. There will be a number of performances, all at the Kenyan National Theatre beginning December 1. Proceeds from this unique collaboration are donated towards scholarships for underprivileged Kenyan youth to pursue their education in dance.
