Laurie Rogers Appointed Interim Music Director of Peabody Opera Theatre

Laurie RogersConductor, pianist, and vocal coach Laurie Rogers has been appointed interim music director of the Peabody Opera Theatre program. During the 2020-21 academic year, as guest faculty at the Peabody Conservatory, she served as music director for Peabody Opera Theatre’s Cosí fan tutte

Rogers is director of the Young Artist Program and Head of Music Staff at Opera Saratoga. Last spring, she conducted the world premiere of Michael Ching’s Remove Shoes Before Entering, commissioned by the University of Alabama Opera Theatre, where she served for two years as Music Director; The Consul for Baltimore Concert Opera; and was to have conducted Le nozze di Figaro for the University of Memphis and The Threepenny Opera for the Hawaii Performing Arts Festival prior to the COVID-19 pandemic shutdown.

She served as assistant conductor and in artistic administration for the Opera Company of Philadelphia over the course of 13 seasons; as assistant conductor and music staff at the Dallas Opera for five seasons; and has worked at major opera houses across the country including the Houston Grand Opera, San Francisco Opera, Los Angeles Opera, San Diego Opera, Utah Opera, North Carolina Opera, Arizona Opera, Michigan Opera Theatre, Washington National Opera, Wolf Trap Opera, Boston Lyric Opera, Sarasota Opera, Pittsburgh Opera, Opera Theatre of St. Louis, Glimmerglass Opera, and others.

Rogers gives master classes nationwide, judges the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, has been published in Classical Singer magazine, and has taught at the Professional Advantage singer training program in Mercatello sul Metauro, Italy. She is a native of Greenwich, Connecticut, and holds degrees from the New England Conservatory of Music and Tufts University.
