The Minnesota Youth Symphonies has appointed Mark Mandarano (MM ’91, Conducting), as its artistic director. MYS is one of the nation’s premier youth orchestra education programs, dedicated to conservatory-level orchestral training for students. With three full orchestras, one string orchestra, and other ensembles and enrichment offerings, MYS offers a comprehensive musical experience for students from elementary through high school level, including several performances annually at Orchestra Hall. Mandarano will be provide artistic leadership to the institution and will lead rehearsals and performances of the top orchestra starting in the fall of 2022, the organization’s 50th anniversary season. Mandarano currently serves as an Associate Professor of Music and Director of Instrumental Activities at Macalester College in St. Paul, Minnesota.
