The Baltimore Classical Guitar Society and its artistic director Manuel Barrueco (BM ’75, Guitar), Peabody Professor of Guitar, successfully ran the first edition of the Baltimore International Guitar Competition, hosted in part at the Peabody Institute. The competition has the highest price purse of any classical guitar competition in the world. Following the 3-day Final Round, the blind jury comprised of International musicians awarded Andrzej Grygier of Poland first prize.
