ChromaDuo, comprised of Tracy Anne Smith (DMA ’12, Guitar) and Rob MacDonald (GPD ’03, MM ’04, Guitar), recently premiered two works written for the duo. In July, the duo premiered Dyens en Trois Temps, a piece composed in memory of Roland Dyens by Brazilian composer Sergio Assad. This performance took place at the 30th International Iserlohn Guitar Symposium in Germany. The second piece, The Circle Game after Margaret Atwood, was composed by Cuban maestro Leo Brouwer and premiered in Toronto in a concert presented by the Guitar Society of Toronto. ChromaDuo was also successful in securing a grant from the Canada Council for the Arts to record, present and create video of these new works for Naxos in early 2023.
