On April 30 “The President’s Own” Marine Band Chamber Orchestra debuted faculty composer Joel Puckett’s There Was a Child Went Forth with guest soloist Nicholas Phan (tenor), a setting of selections of Marine Band superfan Walt Whitman’s poem of the same name and a work commissioned to celebrate the ensemble’s 225th birthday. Phan and the Marine Band record the work during sessions in June.
