Berta Rojas (MM ’98, GPD ’00, Guitar)—whose 2022 album Legado took home two Latin Grammys, making her the first Paraguayan to win a Latin Grammy, and who was honored last year with the National Order of Merit in the Grade of “Grand Cross” by her home country—talks about her dramatic 2022, which included the theft and eventual return of her guitar, in the spring/summer issue of “Berklee Today” from the Berklee College of Music, where she is an associate professor. She performs July 14 during the Festival Internacional de Guitarra José Tomás Villa de Petrer in Valencia, Spain, where Peabody faculty artist Manuel Barreuco (BM ’75, Guitar) will be honored with the 2023 José Tomás Honorary Guitarist Award and perform July 13.
