Mind on Fire, the Baltimore-based ensemble co-founded by artistic director Allison Clendaniel (BM ’14, Voice) and executive director James David Young (DMA ’14, Composition), was one of eight Baltimore music groups/organizations awarded inaugural New Music Inc. grants that include 12-18 months of mentorship.
A total of 30 grants were awarded in incubator programs in Baltimore, Chicago, and New York City that helps propel small-budget, artist-led new music organizations forward. Peabody alumni winners include the Bergamot Quartet (Ledah Finck (BM ’16, MM ‘18, Violin); Sarah Thomas (BM ’17, MM ’19 Violin); Amy Huimei Tan (GPD ’20, Viola); and Irène Han (MM ’18, Cello)) and ChamberQueer (co-founded by Danielle Buonaiuto (MM ’12, Voice)).
