The musicON 2024 International Music Festival will be held October 25 to 27, 2024 at OPERA America’s National Opera Center in New York City. The festival is organized by Mayflower Art Center, founded by Yiming Wu (MM ‘13, Composition) and features the second musiCON International Composition Competition. Among the judge panel is Felipe Lara, Peabody Associate Professor and Chair of Composition. Claire Hu (MM ‘25, Composition) was the winner of the first musicON International Composition Competition in 2023. Throughout the festival five concerts will showcase 61 new original works performed by the musicON Chamber Orchestra under the direction of Yu-ting Cheng (MM ‘14, Clarinet), with soprano Kerry Holahan (MM ‘14, Early Music Vocal Performance) invited as a guest artist. The concerts will feature works by Peabody composition students and alumni:

Yiming Wu (MM ‘13, Composition): “Vision” for Flute Solo
Natalie Draper (DMA ‘17, Composition): “Sonnets” for Piano, Violin, Cello, Flute and Soprano
