Peabody alumnus Andrew Kosinski (MM ’22, Composition, Music Theory Pedagogy) composed the official hymn for the State Funeral procession of former President Jimmy Carter. The composition, entitled “Frigidus Est Foras,” translates from latin to “It’s Cold Outside” and references the piece’s unique avoidance of the use of brass valves, which freeze in the current sub-freezing temperatures. DMA candidate Chance Stine performed the composition.
