Matt Bacon’s (BM ’10, Guitar) composition Concierto Malabar for guitar and orchestra had a partial premiere (movements I & Ostinato) in March 2024, performed at Sir Mutha Venkatasubba Rao Concert Hall in south India by Bacon and AR Rahman’s Sunshine Orchestra. The performance was a collaboration between KM Music Conservatory, the British Council, and the AR Rahman Foundation. Times of India referred to the guitar concerto as the “highlight of the evening.”
In August, Bacon performed a full Carnatic ensemble concert in Singapore with percussionist Praveen Sparsh and Sushma Soma – the National Arts Council Young Artist award winner.
From late August through September, Bacon was on a 12 event tour through Bangalore, Lucknow, and Mussoorie as the ABRSM Young Artist of the Year. He performed and conducted workshops in collaboration with the historic La Martiniere College and CMS Rajajipuram school (founded by the Gandhi family) as well as Woodstock International School.
