Two-time Pulitzer Prize nominee (’96) released an album with GRAMMY-winning label Navona Records on February 6. PANORAMA includes six multi-movement works, including concertos for cello and piano.
PANORAMA includes the symphonic poem Little Nemo in Slumberland, an homage to Winsor McCay’s groundbreaking comic strip; An Avandalian Suite, four tone poems based on tales from Tolkien’s The Silmarillion; a cello concerto and a piano concerto; the incidental-music suite The Eye of Phoebus inspired by the composer’s novel of the same name; and the Symphony of Seasons, in which the opening hymn-like Anthem for Autumn is transformed throughout each of the four musical seasons that follow. The works included on PANORAMA showcase Amrhein’s creative breadth, bound together by her studied commitment to craft and form.
