In October, professors Elizabeth Futral, the Marc C. von May Distinguished Chair of Vocal Studies, and Zane Forshee (MM ’01, GPD ’03, DMA ’11, Guitar), the Marc C. von May Distinguished Chair of Professional Studies, were installed as endowed chairs during a ceremony at the George Peabody Library. A longstanding interest in opera and appreciation of business training for artists drew private investor Marc von May, a Peabody Institute Advisory Board Member, to support the Vocal Studies Department and Professional Studies program. These endowed chairs allow Peabody to retain outstanding faculty and support financial aid, master classes and guest artists, summer internship and student work positions, new course work, and more.
