Trygve Mohr Rydberg (BM ’55, Voice), a U.S. Army veteran, was a career music educator in the greater Baltimore area, teaching at Baltimore City College High School, Towson High School, North Point Junior High School, and Essex Community College, where he was the Music Department chairman. He passed away in 2003, following his wife Mildred Rydberg, a music teacher and U.S. Navy veteran, and he named Peabody as a beneficiary in his trust. The estate gift of more than $1,000,000 will support a cohort of undergraduate Rydberg Scholars during their studies at the Peabody Conservatory. The first Rydberg Scholars will be named during the 2025–26 academic year.
