Murry Sidlin (BM ’62, Music Education; MM ’68, Instrumental Conducting), recipient of the 2011 Johns Hopkins University Alumni Association’s Distinguished Alumni Award, will conduct a full performance of the Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony with the Czech National Symphony Orchestra and Choir on the grounds of the former concentration camp at Terezin, Czech Republic on June 12. Sidlin is the founder and president of The Defiant Requiem Foundation, which sponsors the Rafael Schächter Institute for the Arts and Humanities that will offer several weeks of lectures, seminars, panels, and artistic presentations in June.
