Sarah Chan (MM ’96)

Alumnus Eric Zuber (BM ’05, AD ’09) won third prize, the Chopin prize, and junior jury prize at the 2011 Cleveland International Piano Competition. In May, Zuber won fourth prize at the Rubinstein Competition in Israel.

Baltimore Magazine‘s 2011 Best of Baltimore listing of Top 10 Bands and Musicians includes faculty artist Manuel Barrueco (BM ’75) and specifically mentions his recently released album Tárrega!. The magazine calls Barrueco “one of the greatest classical guitarists in the world.”

Alumnus Skoraczewski joins BSO

Dariusz Skoraczewski (BM ’94, GPD ’96) is the new principal cellist at the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. He previously served as assistant principal cellist with the orchestra.

Rubik’s Cube Champion

Dan Cohen, a master’s candidate in audio sciences, was named a 2011 National Champion for Rubik’s Cubing, at the National Tournament, held in Columbus, Ohio last month. Cohen won the 4×4, 5×5, and 6×6 speedsolve events.

Formanek Best of Baltimore

Baltimore Magazine‘s 2011 Best of Baltimore listing of Top 10 Bands and Musicians includes faculty artist Michael Formanek and specifically mentions his recently released album, The Rub And Spare Change. The magazine describes Formanek as a “formidable presence at Peabody.”
