GQ Guitar Quartet of the Peabody Guitar Ensemble Program dazzled the audience and the dancers alike through their stylish and passionate performances of Piazzolla tangos to the brilliant choreography of Carol Bartlett, Artistic Director of the Peabody Dance. Presented in the 2012 Choreography Showcase on March 31st and April 1st, the performance of GQGQ highlighted the immediacy of live performance in-sync with the accomplished dancers from the Peabody Dance Program. Following Sunday’s performance, Bartlett said “I first began working with guitarists at USC, with the then, little known LAGQ. It’s such a delight to continue collaborations with GQGQ, who put their hearts and souls into playing for our dancers, and always show up to rehearsals so beautifully prepared.”
GQGQ of Spencer Artwick, Young Ik Jang, David Kalwa and Ben Lougheed will be one of the three guitar ensembles that will represent the Peabody Conservatory at the Washington, DC Symposium of the Guitar Foundation of America performing at Strathmore Hall on Sunday April 29th at 1:00 pm.
