Benita Slater (PC ’91, Saxophone; BM ’91, Music Education) recently received a patent for her Twist-n-Tune or TNT. (patent #US8,283,540B2), a simple device which is a huge innovation for the saxophone. The TNT is screwed onto the saxophone and played and twisted until the instrument is in tune and the mouthpiece isn’t touched. It took over two years to get the patent and she is now sending it to companies and exploring options of production and distribution. Slater teaches special needs students.
