Update on Sungrai Sohn

Sungrai Sohn (BA ’75, Violin) currently teaches violin and directs the chamber music program and string orchestra and is head of the string department at Sarah Lawrence College. He also serves as chair adjudicator for the New York Music Competition. His performance of the “Violinist in the Mall” was a co-winner of the contemporary music competition Friends and Enemies, and his Amasi Piano Trio recently (2012) released a CD (Misna Productions) of Parker, Piazzolla and Rachmaninoff Trios. Sungrai was recently featured in a documentary “To Have and To Give” (trailer on YouTube, and full version at Agricolamedia.com).

The documentary, which was premiered at Sarah Lawrence College in September 2012, describes the experience of his living-donor liver transplant from his brother-in-law David Esposito in 2001.  Sungrai was also featured in a cover story “ Will to Live” (www.slc.edu/magazine) for the award-winning Sarah Lawrence College magazine in the fall 2012 issue.
