Melva Treffinger Graham news

Melva_Treffinger_GrahamMelva Treffinger Graham (MM ’71, Choral Conducting) is semi-retired after 42 years of church music performance and teaching in Canada. She has served churches in Halifax, N.S., Saint John, N.B., and Toronto, Ontario, as well as university and community choirs. During her 25 years at Grace Church on-the-Hill, Toronto, Graham’s choirs performed on tour in many American cities, as well as Great Britain and Ireland. Among her many choral concerts at Grace Church was the 1999 celebration of the 125th anniversary of the parish foundation, with an uncut performance of the Bach Mattaeuspassion with Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra.  Graham led choirs and taught choral techniques and harpsichord in three Canadian universities. In both the church and university milieu, Graham has led in advanced choral education for the young, exposing many children to great choral music at a young age.  Her current “retirement project” is to create an all-ages choral programme at the Anglican Church of St. John (Norway) in Toronto’s east end.
