Atlas String Quartet will participate in Fischoff Competition

atlas string quartetThe Atlas String Quartet- Lavena Johanson (MM ’13, Cello), Master of Music violin students Joshua Hong and Ethan Siegel, and MM viola student Eric D’Alessandro- was selected to participate in the prestigious Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition in May. Founded in 2013, the group is coached by cellist Michael Kannen, Director of Chamber Music at Peabody.

ASQ has performed Bartók’s String Quartet No. 2, op. 17 in its entirety at Peabody, and will be performing all of Beethoven’s String Quartet No. 14, op. 131 on the Chamber Music from Peabody Series at the First Unitarian Church of Baltimore. The quartet has been selected to perform in master classes at Peabody for the St. Lawrence and Ying Quartets, respectively. They have also been awarded the school’s 2014 Yale Gordon Creative Access Chamber Fellowship, under the auspices of which the group is featured in regular concerts throughout the Baltimore community.
