Faculty artist Denyce Graves, mezzo-soprano, will be featured in the Star-Spangled Spectacular concert celebrating the bicentenial of the national anthem on Saturday, September 13 at the Pier Six Pavillion. The two-hour performance will be hosted by actor John Lithgow and broadcasted live on PBS. Other featured artists include Kristen Chenoweth, Smokey Robinson, Pentatonix, and the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. The event will top-off a weeklong festival from September 10 -16 marking the end of Maryland’s three-year commemoration of the war of 1812. Besides performers, the event will include fireworks, family friendly activities, and perhaps a visit by President Barack Obama.
