Min Young Park wins Harrison L. Winter Piano Competition

The winner of the Harrison L. Winter Piano Competition was announced Wednesday, December 12. Min Young Park, student of Yong Hi Moon was awarded a first prize of $1,000 and will play Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 25 in C major, K. 503 with the Peabody Symphony Orchestra on April 25, 2015. Judges for the competition were Sylvia Wang, Alvin Chow, and Pavlina Dokovska.
Fourteen students competed in the preliminary round on Tuesday, December 9. Hyun Jung Kim, student of Boris Slutsky, Wan-Chi Su, student of Benjamin Pasternack, Min Young Park, student of Yong Hi Moon, Dong Yeon Kim, student of Boris Slutsky, Melody Quah, student of Boris Slutsky, and Sahun Hong, student of Leon Fleisher all performed in the final round which took place on Wednesday, December 10. Hyun Jung Kim, who performed Piano Concerto No. 20 in D minor, K. 466 and is a student of Boris Slutsky, was awarded a second prize of $500.
