Jake Runestad (MM ’11, Composition), will be leading a session at the American Choral Director’s Association on Wednesday, February 25 at 11:00 am in Salt Lake City. “New American Voices: Developing the Choral Art” will be led both by Runestad, award-winning composer, and famed choral conductor Dale Warland. The session will explore ways to encourage and develop the choral art to further its evolution. From supporting young composers to traits of quality compositions for all ability levels, they will discuss these elements and give examples of exciting composers, compositions, and advice from Dale’s vast experience commissioning over 270 works. Runestad will also have a face-to-face session in the Exhibit Hall C on Thursday from 8:30 – 9:30 am. Runestad’s pieces will be performed by multiple choirs all throughout the conference.
