The second New Music Gathering will be held at the Peabody Institute, Jan. 7- 9, 2016. Marin Alsop will give the keynote speech. The New Music Gathering, founded by Lainie Fefferman, Daniel Felsenfeld, Mary Kouyoumdjian and Matt Marks, debuted last January in San Francisco. The theme of the 2016 session will be “communities — big and small, global or local, online or in the flesh.”
If you want to pitch an idea/performance/whatever, New Music Gathering 2016 is accepting “proposals from all musical walks of life from around the world (composers, performers, scholars, arts administrators, publishers, critics, promoters, inventors, creators, dreamers, and beyond).” The online application is free. Deadline in May 17. Read an article published in the Baltimore Sun here.
