Amy Beth Kirsten selected for artist residency at Montclair State University

Amy Beth Kirsten, composerAmy Beth Kirsten (DMA ’10, Composition) has been chosen for a two-year artist residency by the Office of Arts and Cultural Programming at Montclair State University in N.J. to develop a new evening-length work. Artists in this program will be given studio and stage time over a two year period resulting in new work to be presented by MSU’s series Peak Performances at the Alexander Kasser Theater. Dr. Kirsten and Mark DeChiazza will develop Quixote, a musical fantasy based on The Ingenious Gentleman Don Quixote of La Mancha by Miguel de Cervantes. Quixote, for three vocalists and four vocalizing percussionists, will be created for and with the ensemble HOWL featuring soprano Lindsay Kesselman, mezzo-soprano Hai-Ting Chinn, contralto Kirsten Sollek, Ian Rosenbaum (BM ’08, Percussion), Victor Caccese (BM ’11, Percussion), Terry Sweeney (BM ’13, Percussion), and Jonny Allen.
