Kennedy Center to Feature Denyce Graves and National Symphony Orchestra in concert in Honor of Pope Francis

A free concert in the Pope’s honor will be held at 8:00 pm on Sept. 23 featuring the National Symphony Orchestra, faculty artist and mezzo-soprano Denyce Graves, and 10-year-old jazz pianist José André Montaño. The program includes portions of Mozart’s “Exsultate, jubilate,” Holst’s “The Planets” (the movement “Venus, the Bringer of Peace”), Cesar Franck’s “Panis angelicus,” and “What the Wild Flowers Tell Me,” Britten’s arrangement of the second movement from Mahler’s Symphony No. 3.
