Marin Alsop to Leave Cabrillo Festival of Contemporary Music Following 25th Season

Maestra Marin Alsop, leader of the Baltimore and Sao Paolo Symphony orchestras and newly appointed director of Peabody’s graduate conducting program, will step down as music director of the Cabrillo Festival of Contemporary Music, a renowned annual event centered on orchestral works by living composers, following her 25th anniversary season in August 2016. Under Alsop’s direction, the Cabrillo Festival has promoted the work of contemporary composers like John Adams, Philip Glass, and James McMillan, Anna Clyne, Missy Mazzoli, and Mason Bates. Read more at The Monterey Herald and KQED.
