Humanities faculty member Jim Ashton was awarded funding for his research project “Regeneration and Redlining: Race and the Arts in 20th century Baltimore,” which will study the history of elite arts institution and the Black cultural community as a matter of investment and urban real estate. Dr. Ashton will be working with faculty mentor Hollis Robbins, chair of Humanities at Peabody and Director of the Center for Africana Studies at Johns Hopkins.
