Baritone Michael Maliakel (’13, Voice) was the Courtney Knight Gaines Foundation Gold Medal Winner in the American Traditions Vocal Competition in Savannah, Georgia in February. In 2015, Mr. Maliakel won second Place in the Lotte Lenya Vocal Competition, as well as first place in the 2015 National Association of Teachers of Singing’s Musical Theatre Artists Awards. Mr. Maliakel was awarded a $1000 grant in the 2015 Lieder/Song Competition in Association with the Liederkranz Foundation and the Gerda Lissner Foundation. Mr. Maliakel studied with Stanley Cornett.
