Joe Burgstaller Plays for “Cancer Blows” Benefit

Burgstaller Severance HallTrumpet faculty artist Joe Burgstaller recently joined Multiple Myelnoma survivor and former Canadian Brass colleague Ryan Anthony, Michael Sachs (principal trumpet of The Cleveland Orchestra), Vincent DiMartino, and the Cleveland Orchestra’s Youth Ensembles for a “Cancer Blows” benefit on May 30 in Cleveland Orchestra’s Severance Hall. The first “Cancer Blows” concert occurred in 2015 in conjunction with the Dallas Symphony and raised nearly $1 million for research into the blood cancer multiple myeloma. In addition to Mr. Anthony, Mr. Burgstaller, and Mr. DiMartino, the concert featured Doc Severinsen, Arturo Sandoval, Ronald Romm, Phil Smith, Allen Vizzutti, and Lee Loughane (of the band Chicago).
